Sinkhole appears on Castle Cary main road

A main road in Somerset has been partially closed due to a sinkhole.

Station Road in Castle Cary was closed to all vehicles on Sunday between Victoria Gardens and Almshouse Close.

In a post on Facebook, Travel Somerset said: "The road is now open following a safety inspection. It was initially closed yesterday following concerns relayed by the public.

"The road was reopened under temporary traffic lights following an assessment by the team. Please note the footpath remains closed."
